Location: From Malad City, go north 11 miles on I-15 to Exit 22,then north 3 miles on old Hwy 191 to Forest Road 041,then 3 miles on FR 041.

Description: Also known as Malad Summit campground. 6200-foot elevation. 13 campsites and 1 group site, which can accomodate up to 125 people/25 vehicles, on Mill Creek, in Summit Canyon. Group site has large tables, campfire ring, and grills. Wright Creek National Recreation Trail begins 1/4 mile away from the campground. Hiking, OHV/ATV,mountain biking, and horse riding trails are in this area. Just west of the campground is the trailhead for Summit Canyon, which branches off in two directions. A corral and loading ramp are available for visitors with horses. Fishing in the creek.


The adjacent Summit Ranger Station is on the Register of Historic Places. The Elkhorn Mountain region features high peaks, and is the largest roadless area in the Bannock Range. The steep slopes of the canyon are thickly forested with pine and fir, maple, and aspen. The trail passes through the saddle north of the summit. Area wildlife includes mule deer, and some elk, cougar, and bear.
